April Sinhala and Tamil New Year , 13th & 14th April It is a festival, which is celebrated by Sinhalese and Tamils. Easter , This is celebrated by the Roman Catholics. May May Day , 1st May This is celebrated by the workers all over the World. Vesak , The biggest festival in Sri Lanka which commemorates the Birth, Enlightment & Passing Away of the Buddha. During that almost every house of Buddhists illuminated and Pendols are on displayed in the cities. June Poson Poya , A religious festival, which is celebrated by the Buddhists. July Esala Perahara , A colourful religious festival in Kandy, which is celebrated by the Buddhists. Vel Festival A religious festival, which is celebrated by the Hindus. Katharagama Festival A religious festival at the Katharagama Temple. November Deepavali , A colourful festival of lights, which is celebrated by the Hindus. Ramazan Festival , It is a festival for Muslims. December Unduvap Poya , A religious festival for Buddhists. Christmas Day , 24th & 25th Dec A religious festival for Christians.
