Popularly known as the Little England of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya is one of the most serene and must-visit places in the island. Located in the central highlands, the road that leads to Nuwara Eliya from Colombo via Kandy offers some of the most scenic and beautiful views of the country together with tea plantations, vegetable plots and green hills.

Nuwara Eliya gives off a British country village vibe with its pretty rose gardens, red telephone boxes and colonial bungalows. Tourists who visit the country makes it a point to stop by Nuwara Eliya and enjoy the cool climate, tea factories, luxury hotels and the well maintained golf course and racecourse.

Victoria Park
Enjoy a stroll around the beautiful Victoria Park. With exotic flowers, trees and plants, the park is a hot spot for bird lovers.


The Gregory Lake
The lake and its surrounding park are often filled with locals enjoying their afternoons with their families. Long walks around the lake, boat rides and horseback riding are some of the attractions available.


Visit tea plantations
Nuwara Eliya is a picturesque town with tea plantations covering all most every hill. Tourists are able to roam these estates and even pick tea leaves, visit tea factories and enjoy some delicious Ceylon tea.


St. Clair’s falls
The St. Clair’s falls is one of Sri Lanka’s widest and most beautiful waterfalls. Located a little further away from the Nuwara Eliya town, the St. Clair’s falls is a breathtaking view.


Ambewela Farm
Sri Lanka’s largest dairy farm is also found in Nuwara Eliya. Visitors are able to see cows roam freely in the grasslands, the milking stations for the dairy cows and see the calves in the nursery, and enjoy a fresh glass of milk.


Horton Plains and The World’s End
Nuwara Eliya offers one of the most exhilarating experiences for hike lovers. The sheer cliff at the end of the Horton Plains and the beautiful Baker’s fall is definitely worth the strenuous three hour hike.


Hakgala Botanical Gardens
Believed to be the highest altitude botanical gardens in the world, the Hakgala Gardens offer a range of beautifully shaped gardens filled with orchids, roses, spices and other plant species.
